"Anonymous" Folk Songs of Anatolia meet on the same stage with the Symphony.
How did the idea for Folk Symphony come about?
Folk Symphony is a musical work inspired by the treasure of oral music that has been passed down through generations and sung by bards for years at the center of Anatolia's local cultural memory. When we consider the most powerful expression of Folk Symphony, "Türkü", we see that it is truly at the heart of our Turkish Folk Music. This has been the greatest source of inspiration for our ethno-symphonic project, which we have completed with great dedication and success with a large team.
01
The mastery of the folk song form meets the classical Western music
Authentic or local anonymous works have been successfully interpreted in a symphonic language. The arrangements of the musical works in the project have been completed by taking into account the characteristics of classical western music and have been skillfully integrated with the folk song format.
02
"Synthesis" instead of traditional Opera Singing technique
Since using traditional "operatic technique" in performing these beautiful works could cause anonymous folk songs to lose their original motifs due to their nature, the singing technique was blended with a bit of melody and a bit of opera form, providing the opportunity to achieve an impressive "synthesis".
03
A "First" in Synthesis and Symphonic Arrangements
In summary, Folk Symphony is not a first in essence, but it does have the distinction of being a "first" in terms of synthesis and modern symphonic arrangements.
" Anonymous folk songs are the beacons of our folk music culture. It takes its source from these roots and the many stories that nourish them ."
What does this project represent for Mete TAŞIN?
For the successful opera singer and producer of the project, Mete TAŞIN, Folk Symphony means a very important step in his musical career. The cornerstone of his doctoral thesis proposal, which was accepted by a prestigious music academy in Ireland in recent months, Folk Symphony: Symphonic Arrangements of Anonymous Folk Songs, has a completely integrated character from the artist's perspective, both intellectually and musically. In addition to the classical opera repertoire that he has successfully performed in various concert halls in America and Europe for years, the great interest shown by foreign classical music listeners in Turkish works has further strengthened the idea of organizing and performing anonymous folk songs in opera form and under the roof of a symphony.
